Happy Holidays 2019!

Happy holidays, Family and Friends!

As you know, this is the first year of our lives spent away from home during the holidays and we’re not going to lie… it hasn’t been easy. There have been tears, longing to be closer to home, and envy of those surrounded by friends and family. So to start this post, we want to thank everyone who sent a holiday card to the other side of the world for us, everyone who has video chatted us to make us feel closer to you and home, and everyone who simply messaged to see how we’re doing with being away from home. This year, it all just meant a little more and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Although we’re away from home, we made sure to celebrate the holidays Singapore-style with our friends here. We spent a great day exploring the Tiong Bahru neighborhood with the Littekens and the Donaldsons. The day included lots of food, visiting shops and art galleries, and foot massages. We ended the night at a Japanese speakeasy restaurant and chatting well into the night.

Travis spent a day at work celebrating the holidays with his employees. He and his leadership team served lunch (first shift) and dinner (second shift) to all plant staff, Travis in a Mrs. Claus apron, which was a huge hit. In true Singaporean-style, the celebrations included lots of food, some intense karaoke, and many laughs.

Samantha had a late-night secret Santa video chat with her Wichita State Doctor Family. Although they’re all scattered throughout the world, every year they still choose names, send a small gift to their secret Santa recipient, and video chat as a large group to open the gifts, guess their secret Santa, and catch up. A tradition Samantha is very grateful for. Thank you again, to #1 and A. Chap for the awesome gifts and to Christina for organizing!

Lastly, Team Jansen hosted Christmas Eve dinner at Chez Jansen. Samantha and Charity did an amazing job outfitting the house for the holidays and prepping food ahead of time to ensure Christmas Eve was stress-free for the whole house. Matt, Ali, and her brother, Andrew, all came over to celebrate sharing in some of our favorite home Christmas dishes, Wisconsin whiskey slush, and a good ol’ fashioned dress-up game, which got intense rather quickly and made Charity laugh her butt off.

Tonight, Team Jansen will explore the Christmas lights/decor on Orchard Road and head down to Gardens by the Bay to watch the Supertree Grove Christmas show.

Below we’ve included some of our holiday pictures and also our year-in-review letter that we typically send out. This year, sending cards through Shutterfly and posting a digital copy of our letter was just a little easier.

Wishing you and yours so much love, laughter, and good health during the holidays and in 2020. Cheers!

All our love,

xo Team Jansen
